Didymos Pamir?

Every time I notice Didymos listing wrap scraps, I hurry and order some. Too bad the number of wrap scrap packages is now limited to only three. Three! That's like 15 scraps at the most. But let's not dwell on that, because one of my packages contained a very interesting wrap scrap. It's like some kind of Chiara variation, with woven-in stripes. The resemblance to Pamir is striking! But this one is cross twill weave (I think), whereas Pamir is twill weave. It's definitely 100% cotton. The wrap scrap isn't hemmed and it's a straight piece, so I don't think we'll see this wrap for sale any time soon. Too bad, because I like it! The colour is creamy white and it feels not too thick and very soft!

Regarding the weave: I have a close-up pic, so if anyone would like to share their thoughts, please do!

Didymos Dragon Antara

Not everyone was charmed by the new Didymos Dragon Antara. Lots of mixed feelings about that one! But once again, it became clear that you should never judge a wrap by its swatch. Dragon Antara is really lovely in real life!

This is a medium thick wrap, size 6 weighs 682 grams. Dragon Antara's sister Nepomuk (with 40% linen) weighs 736 grams for a size 6, so these dragons are slightly thinner.

Didymos Indio Monti & Indio Mare

And how about these two lovely all-cotton Indio's? Monti with an orange-brown thread and Mare with a beautiful turquoise weft. (It might very well be the same colour as the cotton in Caribe Fish, I only just realized).

Indio Monti weighs 753 grams for a size 6 and Indio Mare weighs 746 grams for a size 6. I'd say they're both equally thick :) Not too thick though, a nice medium thickness.

I have 18 pics for you!

Didymos Pesci Nebbia with plant-dyed linen

I love it when manufacturers try something new. This time, Didymos has made the very first wrap with plant-dyed linen: Pesci Nebbia (40% linen). The linen yarn was dyed with Reseda Lutea. Plant-dyed linen needs to be treated gently, the natural dye will fade when the wrap is being washed too hot or with an agressive detergent. It's best to use detergent for delicates and wash at 40 degrees Celcius or 60 degrees Celcius at most.

Pesci Nebbia size 6 weighs 696 grams, so this is not super thin. I'd say it's medium thickness, to the thin side.

And now for the pictures!

Ellevill Zara Tri Pink and Tri Purple

According to Ellevill's website, the new Zara Tri Pink would have a lighter weft than the old one. But I'd say the weft is darker now. This has hemmed rails, like all new Ellevill wraps. Anyway: pics!

Wait with me... it's here!

Yes, my Pamir has arrived! Actually, it arrived a couple of weeks ago. But my very picky three-year-old refused to have her picture taken while being worn in Pamir. Maybe I asked too eagerly, who knows :)

Anyway: tonight my daughter was in a good mood and agreed to having some fun with Pamir Fresia, as it's been appropriately named by the lovely and talented mama who created this wrap for us.

Some initial thoughts on my first Pamir: I love it, but I'm not overwhelmed. Maybe because my expectations were too high. Maybe because it's dense but not thick. I like thick. Maybe because it needs to be broken in more, it's rather stiff right now. And it's a tad long for me, I bought a 5.5 m. because I knew Vatanai usually runs short and the dye bath would make it shrink even more. It measures approx. 5.25 m. now, but because it's not very thick, it has very long tails for me. (For instance: hemp indio is only 10 cm shorter than Pamir but the tails are way shorter after tying).

But the prettiness of Fresia makes that we reach for it often, so I think with time, it will soften up nicely. I like that the twill weave is much more sturdy than I expected it to be. I have been indoctrinated that cross twill weave is good and all else is evil, or in any case: less. But I think twill weave is also not bad, at least it makes for a very nice and tight carry with my 29 lbs three-year-old.

Didymos Indio Powder-Silk

Yes, it does resemble Rose Seide Indio an awful lot. But there is a difference: RSI has two colours (pink and natural silk) whereas Powder Silk Indio has three: pink, powder (a very pale pink) and natural silk. The pink and silk colours of RSI and PSI are the same. But this wrap is much thinner than RSI: Powder-Silk Indio weighs only 569 grams for a size 6.
